Baby Shower Brunch

I literally have the best friends in the world who threw me a baby shower.  I actually didn't think I was going to have one since we don't have a lot of family in the area, and we have only lived here a year.

Christie, Jen, and Shayla put the whole thing together....and I literally just had to show up.  My mom even flew in at the last minute so she could attend.  Here are some pictures from the party.

The Party Planning Committee

The most amazing breakfast ever: crepes with fruit, doughnuts, a fruit platter, quiche, and these really good puff pastries.

The party favors were little bottles of nail polish that matched the colors of Kelsey's room.

In the picture below you can see one of my favorite decorations that Shayla made.  It is a flag banner for Kelsey's room.  If you zoom in on the picture you can see all the bedazzled gems outlining each flag....I love it!!!

I am also counting this as my 30 week pregnancy post.  I have begun to feel really pregnant these past two weeks.  My hands and feet are retaining a lot of water, and I feel bigger every single day.  Kelsey is still right on track with all of her stats, so nothing new to update there.

My Aunt Lucy (I just call her that, she is really my Mom's roommate from college hahah) was not able to make it to the shower since she was on the East Coast enjoying the NY Yankees game....lucky her.  However, she did stop by the following day to visit with us.  As you can tell from her outfit she is pretty stylish.  She gave Kelsey so many "hip" outfits she probably won't even look my child.  She did include a few Yankees outfits and a pink Duck Dynasty blanket that are a little more my style hahaha.  Thanks Aunt Lucy!

First Time Home Owners!!!

Yep Brady and I bought our 1st home!!!

We are so excited to move in and make it our own.  We actually closed on the house today, so we will slowly start moving our stuff in over the next week.  It is about 15 minutes away from where we are currently living....which will make moving fairly simple.

Here are a few things I love about our house (in no particular order):

1. The neighborhood: The community has two awesome swimming pools, a splash pad, playgrounds, and walking trails.

2. The location: It will still take Brady about 15-20 minutes to get to work, so that is perfect for us.

3. The greenbelt: In front of our house is a huge greenbelt separating us from the neighbors across the street.  It gives us a very pretty view, and there is a convenient walking trail that goes around it.

4. The flooring: We lucked out big time finding a house with the exact wood flooring that Brady and I wanted.  It is that textured dark wood that is really popular right now.

5. The appliances: Luckily they upgraded all of their appliances to stainless steel, so that makes the kitchen look really good.  They are also leaving their fridge for us which saves us some money.

6. The floor plan: All of the rooms are downstairs except for the game room area which is upstairs.  I really didn't want to have our bedroom downstairs and Kelsey's bedroom upstairs, so we lucked out.

7. The kitchen/family room area: This is the area that sold the house for us.  The kitchen and the family room are perfectly connected so while you are in the kitchen you can have a conversation with the people in the family room. 

8. The previous home owners: I know this probably doesn't matter to some people, but it does for me. The previous family took such good care of the home, and they were really easy to work with throughout the entire process. 

There are obviously going to be changes that we will make to the home eventually, but for now we are so excited to get moved in.  I will post more pictures next month after we get settled in.

McKinney Trade Days

Last year we checked out the Canton Trade Days when we first moved to Texas, so this year we decided to stop by the McKinney Trade Days.  I would definitely say the one in Canton bigger and better, but it is nice having one a lot closer to us in McKinney.

I was even able to pick up a few items for Kelsey's newborn photos I am trying to prepare for.

Birthing Class

Brady and I signed up for a few of the baby lessons offered by our hospital.  The first one we have attended is a four day birthing class.  We go one night a week for three hours during the month of September. We have really liked going so far.....the free food always helps!

This past Wednesday we practiced different techniques to help relax the mom during the labor process.  Lets just say there were a lot of really weird positions and massages that occurred.  They also had us try this meditation thing where you imagined yourself in a really peaceful place....pretty sure that one is not going to work for me.

We were also able to take a tour of the hospital.  Brady's sister Jen had both of her kids at this hospital, so we were already a little familiar with it.  However, it was nice seeing all the different rooms you will be in throughout the process.  Brady didn't really care about anything except for the free snack closet they have, and the 5 star lobster and steak dinner they serve you.  I think we will eat better at the hospital than we do at our own home.

Oh and I can't forget to mention that Brady had a "that's what she said" joke about every 30 seconds while we were practicing.....he is totally ready to be a dad.
