Our last day with visitors was freezing! The temps dropped into the 40s, but we still wanted to get out of the house. We decided to go to Top Golf since they have outdoor heaters. My grandma ended up really liking golf, so that was pretty cool. Then we headed over to Sublim Chocolate to warm up with some hot chocolate.
For dinner we had an unusual evening. We tried to go to a burger restaurant, but apparently the gas went out for a huge portion of the city. We waited for quite a while for it to go back on, but eventually we just had to order burgers without fries. Later that night everyone was also able to go to my soccer game.
Saturday was Nixon's birthday, and we were not going to let the non stop rain ruin our plans. We decided to go to the Arboretum, and we were the only ones there since it was flooding haha. It was a funny experience, and we are all very thankful for rain boots.
When we got home our neighborhood had a ton of water on the roads. My dad decided to take Kelsey on a fun little go-kart ride through all the flooding. It was basically the highlight of her life.
For dinner we went to Ten50 bbq and then came back home for Nixon's cake and ice cream.
My dad's mom, Peggy, came with my parents to visit us last week. They actually arrived on my grandma's birthday, so the kids stayed up to sing her happy birthday.
The following day we took everyone out on the go-kart before the storm came through. Then I took my grandma on a tour of the Cowboy's practice facility at The Star for her bday present. It was a really cool tour, and it made us love the Cowboys even more!
We had a fun time celebrating his birthday at the Dallas Arboretum (with the rain). For dinner we tried out Ten50 BBQ. Nixon loved having us sing to him, and almost burned his mouth trying to blow out the candles.

Nixon is our little protector. He is very aggressive and is has no problem getting physical with us. However, he is not ok with anyone else beating up Kelsey. He is very protective of her and her things if someone tries to touch them.
Nixon is very orderly. He is very good about cleaning things up, and it constantly cleaning up after Kelsey.
He loves to be helpful by bringing us our shoes, cups, blankets, or whatever else he thinks we might need.
He is for sure going to be our kid that has to learn from his own experiences. If he wants to do something he is going to do it no matter how many times we tell him not to. He also doesn't mind getting hurt, so that is helpful.
Nixon LOVES babies! He is so gentle and concerned when they are around. It is quite the change from the rough kid he normally is.
Sometimes he pretends to be a dog, and requests that we call him Roof.
He LOVES baseball and is constantly trying to get us to pitch to him. He likes to hit the ground with his bat before each pitch.
Nixon is still not talking a ton, but he sure knows how to get his point across. Most times he will get himself whatever he needs....even if that means dragging a chair across the house to reach something.
He still HATES the car and will scream and cry if it's more than a 30 minute drive.
He will eat just about everything, and loves to eat off Brady's plate.
His favorite color is blue, favorite movie is Moana, favorite show is PJ Masks, and favorite food is Mac and Cheese.
Nixon still cries when Kelsey leaves for school the entire ride home.
He will for sure be our temper tantrum kid.
Nixon is all boy and is going to cause me a lot of stress over the years with his injuries, but I also can't imagine having him any other way. He makes us laugh ever single day with how completely psycho he is. We are so glad that we got the rough and tough little boy that we did, and we can't wait to see more of his personality come out this upcoming year.
*On a side note....Nixon did not make a peep his entire check up. He didn't even cry when they gave him his flu shot.
Brady and I were married in August of 2009 after meeting at Utah State University. We now live in McKinney, Texas with our three kids Kelsey, Nixon, and Hayes.
