5K Attempt

I attempted my first 5K last Saturday, and let's just say I could have done a lot better.  I have never been a huge fan of running, but when I played soccer that is pretty much all we did.  I assumed picking it back up would be easier than it was.
I attempted to train for the race a few days a week during the month of May.  Brady and Kelsey were nice enough to join me on my evening runs.  We actually found this really cool outdoor track near the golf course up the road from our neighborhood.
Hopefully I will do better for my next one....I hate losing!

Tyler State Park

Tyler State Park is officially my new favorite spot in Texas.  Megan and I decided to plan a group camping trip here, and we ended up picking the perfect weekend.  The temperature was 80 degrees during the day and 60 degrees at night.  The only down side to the weekend was that the Robinson family wasn't able to make it....oh and the raccoons which I will get to later.
We are going to make this a yearly tradition from here on out because we had so much fun. Next year we will have to try out all the fun lake activities.  They have canoes, paddle boats, and other fun water toys you can rent near the beach area.  Unfortunately all the babies were not up for all those activities.
That night we had fun roasting marshmallows and eating peach cobbler.  Brady also provided entertainment for the evening by catching a massive bug.
Watch the video below for an explanation of this picture.
One thing we were not prepared for were the raccoons.  Literally there were tons of them and they were not at all afraid of us. Eventually the boys had the brilliant idea of trying to catch one.  For some reason Justin knows how to make a noose, so they set a trap with rope and marshmallows.  They actually almost caught a few, but I wasn't surprised they were outsmarted in the end.
On the way back from the restroom a raccoon almost attacked Christi, Megan, and I when it jumped out of the dumpster toward us.
Yes we all look wonderful in the morning.
The Taylors were able to join us for breakfast the next morning.
Brady was pretty proud of the egg mcmuffin he created for breakfast.
See you in 2015 Tyler State Park....or maybe this Fall.

Family Pictures

We wanted to wait until Kelsey was a little older to take family pictures, but it gets so hot here in Texas we decided to do them earlier. Of course we had Jen take our pictures, and it was like Christmas morning when she sent them over to us.  I am actually surprised they turned out well because it was SOOO windy that day.  My hair was flying everywhere, and Kelsey could hardly keep her eyes open.
Ray was finally able to get Kelsey to smile for a picture, so this is the one we will be framing.

Of course Kelsey was all smiles after we were done taking pictures.
Thanks for the great pictures as usual Jen.

Mother's Day

My 1st Mother's Day went pretty well this year.  Brady made me his famous blinchiki (Russian crepes) for breakfast, and salmon for dinner.  Kelsey's gift to me was sleeping in until 8:15am...which was awesome.
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and future moms out there!!!

5 Months!

I can’t believe we have made it 5 whole months as parents.  There were many times I thought we wouldn’t make it, but it is starting to get a lot more enjoyable.
Things to remember about Kelsey at 5 months:
-Loves having her shirt pulled over her head
-FINALLY takes a bottle, and likes to hold it herself
-Had her first injury when I pinched her finger in her stroller buckle
-Brady calls her a turtle because she rolls over in the middle of the night and can’t get back over.  She cries until you flip her back over.
-Loves to touch your face
-Smells like mildew sometimes because she falls asleep in her puddles of drool
-Tries to copy me when I say the word yes, but it just sounds like sssss
-Has started spitting bubbles
-Rolls over from her stomach to her back in the middle of the night, but we haven’t seen her do it during the day
-Pushes herself up on her elbows
-Sleeps with her hands under her tummy and her butt in the air
-Copies you when you make spitting sounds
-Gives open mouth kisses
-Cuddles with me for about 10 minutes after she eats in the morning….my favorite time with Kelsey
-Doesn’t mind riding in her car seat anymore
-Likes going on family runs; which we have just started doing a few nights a week
-The best of ALL…..she has gotten on a schedule!!!  She wakes up at about 7:30am and goes to bed at 8pm, takes three two hour naps during the day, and eats once during the middle of the night around 4am.
-Kelsey also moved into her own room about two weeks ago.  It was actually a really easy transition for her, but annoying for me since I have to walk to her room to feed her now.
-Tried rice cereal for the 1st time!!!
I love this picture Brady took.  Kelsey is like, "Mom wake up and play with me".
Kelsey with her men
Kelsey watched Baby Einstein for the first time....I think she was pretty in to it.
After a long day of not good naps, I finally got in bed with her so I could pat her back when she started fussing.
