Nixon's Newborn Pictures

I really wanted to do newborn photos for Nixon since I knew we wouldn't be having any done at the hospital.  I decided to go with Natalie Robertson Photography, and I am so happy with how they turned out.  Nixon was only eight days old in these photos.

My parents came to help us out when Nixon was 1 week old.  I can honestly say I life was so easy with a newborn while they were here.  Having two full time hands to help you with a toddler, newborn, cleaning, and getting out of the house was amazing.  I almost felt like a normal person again.  However, I think I cried every day just thinking about them having to leave.  It was also a really nice week for Kelsey having all the extra attention back on her again.  They took her to multiple parks, out to eat, to the store, and to the pumpkin patch.

Nixon's Birth October 13, 2016

The morning of Nixon's birth I headed to the hospital at 7 am to be induced.  My due date was the 17th, but I opted to be induced closer to the weekend since Brady hasn't been at his job long enough to get paternity leave.  

Brady took Kelsey out for breakfast and then dropped her off with Lindsey before heading to the hospital.

Here is a timeline of the events:

8am- Setup the IV & blood draw

8:30am- Started the pitocin, only dilated to a 2

10am- Dr. Welborne came in to break my water (very uncomfortable)

10:30am- Dilated to a 3; the Dr. came in to give me the epidural because they said I was going to get uncomfortable really quick since they broke my water.

2pm- I was only dilated to a 5...I was napping at this point so everything was fine.

3pm- I called the nurse in because I felt a lot of pressure and I was getting REALLY uncomfortable. At this point I was at a 9, so I was really wanting to push from all the pressure.

4:30pm- They made me wait to start pushing so that I wouldn't have to do it as long.....I was crying at this point from all of the pressure.

4:44pm- Nixon was born after pushing for about 15 minutes.  He would have come sooner, but they had me stop pushing while they waited for Dr. Welborne to get there.

4:44pm-5:45pm Was the worst part of my delivery.  Apparently after having the baby your uterus is suppose to clamp down to stop the bleeding.  Well mine doesn't do that, so it results in hemorrhaging.  This happened when I had Kelsey, so at least it wasn't as scary this time around.  Basically for an hour the nurse is pushing with their full body weight on my stomach while the Dr. tries to stop the bleeding.  I just laid their crying because I felt like I was being beat up, but I just had to lay there and take it.  They did give me more medication to help with the pain, but I was just so exhausted I couldn't think straight.  

They finally stopped the bleeding and everything was fine after that.

 I seriously LOVE our hospital.  The food is amazing and the nurses are always so great.  I told Brady that I wanted to stay at the hospital for the 1st month of Nixon's life since they took such good care of me.
