Gift Of A Friend

Perhaps I'm really gonna take some time to think to write this entry. Since all my previous entries just focused on what floated on the top of my mind.

How is my training?

It is tough but I've got the strength to push on. I think of the better person I'm supposed to become so that nameless people around the island can live a safe and pleasant life. I think of the people I do know that I'm defending. Are they proud of me? I hope they are.

I think about what I'm doing, my quest to lose the weight, the quest to discover something new about myself and the world of military life. Who benefits?

The question that was asked of us. How do the people around you benefit when you successfully managed to lose weight? Especially those who are still heavier?

Who did I first think of? Strange thought Vanessa. From church. Remembered her comment on how she would love to try join the army for its weight loss benefits.

I hope that perhaps what I do benefits everyone even in unseen ways.

I guess because the guys in my platoon call me OCS so much. I actually do feel, I WANT to go there. I want to TRY at least. I won't go down without swinging my fists at least. At least I can say I TRIED.

Then there's that picture in Cubicle 6....Perseverance and the guy jumping the stones to success. I want it that bad.

Do i want it that bad? I guess maybe I do.

Over the weekend. I met many friends.

Friday, went out with Henry, Belinda, Yan Ting, Si Hui, Gary Lim and Qiu Yi to eat baked rice. We hung out at the playground/fitness grounds after eating to talk crap and chat up abit. I was showing some of the guys some of the stuff we do in army for exercise haha.

Saturday was a long day. I met up with Lance for a run at 6.30am, ran for about an hour and ate brekkie at 7.30 ish at Thomson. Then we talked till about 9.

Went home and changed and went for Choir prac and wedding mass.

Then headed out to town to meet Mich for lunch.

We ate at this interesting Japanese restaurance. Tampopo?

Good food, nice ambience. That hair style of hers is just cools.

So she gave me a little present that was although not pleasantly wrapped (who cares about wrapping?) was something that I appreciate without fail.

I wish i had a camera to photograph it on my desk now but sadly i don't. So its a little metal figurine of a stick man playing a flute. I know its not much Mich but I think its a fine piece of art. Really thanks alot.
I'm the kind of person that appreciates the thought of the gift rather than the gift itself see? I'm really glad to have someone like you as a friend to depend and count on surely. We've seen how nasty we can become, we've seen some pretty bad times, you've helped me through quite alot of hard times didn't you?

For all that I really have to say...Thanks. Reading that little note, thinking back about the past and what we've been through as friends so far. It pulled a few heart strings. I really think I'm out of words to describe what to say heh..

We walked around town for a while and ran into a good many people, especially at Ion. Don, Rizuan. I met Issac and Amelia too...its been a long time...

Following that after sending Mich home, i went to meet Wee Yang.

We had some sushi together at Ang Mo Kio. Talked about our lives in army and the stuff we laughed at enjoyed in the past.

I talked to Brennan by voice convo at night when I got home. Talking to him about the stuff thats been going on. I really do miss you lots bro. To hear your voice again after so long man. Its like man I miss the times..

Sunday choir and the like, had brekkie with the kids and spent the day with Joven watching Hot Tub Time Machine. Excellent Show. Really funny haha, albeit sick with some sexual humor. But funny none the less.

Well book in at 6. Gotta get ready now...bye world...

Of Guns and Soldiers

I find it hard not to lament going back in every week.

I miss my friends, family and life.

But i do what i must. I look forward to the day I pop and start an active unit life.

For this life sucks.

This week i spent it well. Friday went home in a cab with Daryl.

Saturday went out to get my breakfast which was tuna in water, two pieces of wholemeal bread, lil magerine, a slice of cheese and 250ml of yoghurt.

Went out for choir prac at 10, chilled with Chris Wong till 1. Then out for lunch with wee yang at Swensen's. I ate baked rice. Can't beat Cafe Ti Amo though.

I hope i don't gain weight.

Then out with Elisse to get Shan's present. Out to Shan's birthday party, Happy 21st Birthday Shan!

Then out with Henry, Gary, Bel and Si Hui.

Fun time out.

Today church, out with Lance and just finished GTA 4's Lost and Damned. Now doing the Ballad Of Gay Tony haha.

Haiz going back in at 7.50. What a bummer.

I'll be back next week.

And Good news. As of last Friday. I'm 83.7kg.

My personal goal is 70kg where i reach lower than 25 BMI.

75 is the first milestone. Woo!!

Can't wait till i get there!

Sparks Fly

Whew Confinements is over.

So now the real shit happens.

The first real weekend out was a real boring one but i had to rush around alot to get all the "essentials" like my shiny new ipod.

I ran around to get all the needed stuff like tissue paper and shit so that camp life won't be so bad. I'm so loaded with batteries for the radio, the portable handphone charger. I think I'm like ready to go for like 2 more weeks in confinement?

Not that i want it though.

Had a great time at church with the young un's, telling them about the life in the army and the plusses and minuses.

I guess the one thing i dread more is going back to camp. But oh well can't help it.

Daryl's parents are sending him in to pasir ris, so i'm hitching with him. God bless you guys!

Thanks to him and his parents i got a ride home last week. I hope dad's free this Friday (if i don't get confinement) to send us home, since his parents are out of town.

So till then my friends and family, I will spend the next 5 days in Aloha Tekong.

For those who want to book me, please tell me so i can plan my Saturdays properly k?

Bye!!
