SCT
Shagged cannot think?

Time to drop it...you really have to be very careful when saying things. The difference of using the right or wrong words to achieve the same end, can result in either nothing bad or an angry or unhappy individual.

...Words can be dangerous when used wrongly.
Lesson learnt, sorry...

Paradox Of Our Times
Not the first time I would open my blog with this same title.

Its funny how the world works, we have everything yet feel so sad, to have the best only to perform worse.

To have phones and the internet but not even taking time to cross the street to talk.

To travel faster only to have to work more.

To have bigger homes and businesses but a shoddy family life.

We live with so much stress, its a miracle we still live to tell the tale. The stress an average child or teenager in school is so many times more than in the past, are we really building a better world or are we just pushing ourselves beyond our limits?

Limits. What are those?
The wonderful thing about people though, stretch their limits and they will go further than they imagined. However like the giant slingshot it is, everyone has a maximum.

The eyes of the world have always been a painful gaze especially for those it looks upon.

The media is the voice and eyes of the people, but for an entity that is the face of millions, it is both beautiful and ugly. Like a two faced joker , it can be friend once and fiend the next.

How do we live as we do?

Happy Birthday!
Bernerd!

Quite unfortunate that the girl he was trying to chase didn't pick up the phone. Perhaps she was busy oh well.

I forgot to shoot photos, not used to the idea I have a camera in camp :/ but I'll post those I did take discretely, only tagged individuals.

Watched finish lotr 1 today after like so long! I wish I could escape into that fantasy world, be where life is not just repetition!

Though I must admit I love the people and things in my life. My eyes grow weary early , mock test for icct tmr.

MJ is deploying me to cover the MEC outreach event at amk library this thursday, means I'll get out on wednesday. Sweet!

Hakuna Matata
It means no worries~ for the rest of your days!~

Do you know what it feels like to live with no problems or at least feel problem free?

I do. It feels damn awesome, I can't even begin to describe it!

The weekend passed too quickly! Sunday's rehearsal was long and fun in a way cuz music works for me like chicken soup but its what I did after rehearsal that I loved most.

Spicy cheese fries at carl's for dinner and iced milk teas at eskimo down by ps. I'm simply thrilled and can't wait till the next time we meet!

ICCT later, boring stuff haiz...later going to see leftie wilson about that off ... I already know who to spend it with :P lol...

I'm getting real sleepy from tis heat...the sugar didn't help...dehyrdation could probably happen at this temperature.

Lots of people today...interesting there was just an announcement about a missing wife rofl...lost child okay...but lost wife...what happened to phones?

I feel old...mothers call me uncle...boys! Look at the uncle! Haiz...I'm old.

Guten Tag, Ich Name Ist....
Met Shaun on the way out from Gedong today, we shared a cab back to Bishan. Had a nice long talk with him. We haven't met in a while and it was real fun!

Went home to bathe and change before heading out to town.

Had dinner at Saizeriya and took a drive down to orchard central.

Last night, i explored so many places in town I have never seen in my life and it was so good to see it from a new perspective.

I loved how I spent tonight.

Thermidor Anyone?
I'm looking red like a lobsta....

Was kinda fun today actually. Met lots of old friends and got to meet a lot of new people (who I'll probably never meet again).

Shot quite a lot of shots today, easily over 200. Experimented with depth shooting today too. Learnt a trick or two today about shooting.

Took a spin on elvin's 35 today, quite fun to experiance his vocation for a few seconds, more fun than mine I guess...but of course grass always looks greener across the border.

Met chun yang and wei hong today too, haven't seen them since BMT. Damn cy has gotten fit. Very different from bmt days.

There was this co from mdc there today, so cool they played pop music and there was ...king of anything! Heard it on the first 5 seconds and recognized it! So cool!

Met a few kids today, one very up dude, got his entire student council to do the reflections...then there was this girl who was super funny! She kept talking and talking and laughing it was just a joke to watch her write her reflection!

Then the epic singaporean of the day...rsaf...something something airforce...epic fa1l! Amanda T...epic lol

Then not sure who said it...rsaf...rarely seen after five...awesome lol! Seriously win!

Now at tpy...subway dinner...super burnt, red and tired...

Woke up early for a run today, literally dragged myself out today. Went back and sorted new songs to my ipod as well as some new tunes.

Played some guitar too, haven't played in a while. Was about to leave just now and realised...shite I left my beret in camp! Oh well lucky I have a spare at home...but its seriously cui...so misshapen! Forgot my shoes too but its ok I have my tracks in camp so no fear here.

Hope today will be cool and fun! perhaps...beats being in gedong anyday!

Leap Of Faith
Looks like i finally got my LOA!

Along with the news there'd be a nights OFF today. So I'm sitting at home now using my computer. Its so hard to get a cab these days! Everybody's looking to get a cab...

Took me a good 20-30 mins to get a cab jeez...Had a good ride with the cabby. He was a pretty good conversationalist if you ask me.

Met Henry up for ice cream at Island Creamery to get my camera back for tomorrow's event. Drink up me hearties, i'm gonna catch that smile my buddies are going to put on your faces.

PLAFB for outreach, looking forward to seeing Elvin there tomorrow.

It's been a beautiful night.

Thank you for your time
And try not to waste any more of mine...

God these instructors talk too much....so much for learning self defence today...spent one hour listening to the same dude prattle on and on...god don't waste our time...we're already here for a year more at least do less talking more action!

Lunch is sick! Looks like a cat puked furballs and they scooped it up again...everyday is some new mighty morphin power chicken. Same chicken different sauce...zzz

Ming jay said my loa will be ready by 3. No word on if I need my cam tmr yet...they mentioned no transport tmr...shud mean a book out...but I hope its true. Unless of cuz they intend for us to leave camp at 4am by tonner...

Which is highly unlikely...I think.

Run Away into Fantasy!
Woke up this morning for the second time and started listening to movie themes. Concerning hobbits from lotr came up.

My imagination is running wild. Living a life in a peaceful country side far away from the worries and stress of the cities. I imagined rolling fields of green and the cool breeze thru my hair, the water of the river down by the side. People here aren't worried bout what to eat or what to wear, they work the honest labor and enjoy it. The children here are not touched by the fears and angers of life outside, they are not vulgar, violent or angsty.

Life Is Good

The place is in a valley, surrounded by trees at the far edges but its okay, no one minds because no one ever finds the need to leave.

Perfect Utopian life.

Somehow that's how I imagine life in my old age, somewhere far away, with my family and friends. Too bad that's all just fantasy.

Reality hits hard cuz life can suck but know what? Its all good.

I see no need to run, life is good. No more enemies in camp, just misunderstood friends. The world is at peace when you can find peace within.

Almost time for first lesson! Time to go!

EOD
So finally the end to another long day...

Thankfully icct in the afternoon didn't involve much falling or hurting my neck further! We learnt two new kinds of locks.

Ming jay later called me to tell me I was to be part of the photography team. Like finally omg! Went to see rsm to get the low down on the job. Following that he briefed the coy on the duties on thur and sat.

Tomorrow there's rehearsal for 'approaching a person' for thursday...but I hope it don't take too long seriously. Desmond said he'd help me fight for a coy nights out. Hopefully he'll manage to make it come true.

Went down with the guys to 46 for cheese fries...aww that cheesy greasy goodness never fails to satisfy. Too bad now I feel a little more guilty :/ , ah well I'll work it off on friday...8km woo!

Pain
My neck still feels funny...after this morning...it feels worse. Regardless we learnt side break fall today...going back for more locks and rolling break fall.

My muscles are calling for salvation but there be none to be had here. Maybe lance's gel thingy might not be such a bad idea :/ ...

Slack in the platoon office! Aircon!

Tank
One neck sprain and many aching muscles later, icct is over.

The breakfalls were hillarious! Kinda looked like everyone was praying to god or summat. Managed to sprain my neck on the reverse breakfall, now I know what Bang Wei meant.

Had a long chat with desmond over lunch today. Thanks for being a pal dude.

With good measure friday will be actually a book out day! But damn burn a saturday at RSAF open house...ah well. Win some and lose some. Sunday will be a rushed day I'm certain...down to the idp fair after church. I wonder how many weeks straight will I burn my weekends? Good thing there's off granted for this...

Met Aaron at camp today, in on some business. Fancy meeting a familiar face in this forsaken place.

Fearless
Today it rained again. The ground is wet and that means no 5bx. Doesn't mean no icct though.

More wayang kicking and punching to come.

You don't believe me, I know why.
I've made the same mistakes before but I never corrected them.
You talked but I never listened.

This is me doing what I should I have been doing long ago. Don't take my word for it. I'm no stranger to reassurances.

Let me prove it.

The Medicine For My Soul
Music.

If there is one thing I enjoy more than anything in the world is to play good music. Challenging and satisfactory. To play with others, friends or strangers without fear of criticism or jeer.

Went for mass after duty ended. Shared a cab back with Jeremy. Stopped by 7 - 11 to get breakfast cause i absent mindedly forgot to take breakfast from the S3 office earlier...

During mass i had the luck of having Daryl there too. Since he was attending with his family. He decided to join me at the back of the church though and amidst the service, we had fun talking abit too. Not saying I don't listen though. Naughty Naughty =/

Went up for choir prac and was quite dismayed to see the low attendance today. After prac ended, Liz and I took some time to play the duet scores i found over the past week. Little Fugue. Damn it has been a long time since our little quartet tried to play it...at least 4 years ago. Today, with just two people. A single flute and a violin, we played it and had fun in the process. John suggested after that to look for even more duet music that could boost the wedding or reception repertoires. I guess I could look for more...not that difficult to find actually.

Today, father said during service... an aircraft carrier is 850 metres tall, and the highest wave recorded is 650 metres tall. Imagine the sailors fighting for their lives...and think of the submarine...450 metres in the murky depths. Where the sea is at peace amidst the raging storm above. What did i interpret...when there are storms in your life...bury your head in the ground. Fair enough and simple if you ask me =/

Stopped to pray at the chapel after prac and walked off with Liz, Maegan and Elly. I then parted ways with them to get a much...required haircut at Thomson Plaza...any longer I might probably be signing for it...only to find Maegan and Elly there still...apparently they're going to crash Amanda's place...the things kids do these days when bored...makes me wish I was young again tho...was kinda hoping to see Nick and Gab today but both of them seemed to have been ghosts for the day anyway...ah wells..catch em next week.

Henry will be here to collect my camera soon...then time to figure what to do till 8.30pm...

5/22/2011 02:27:00 pm

Tickity Tock
Up at 5.30am today. Washed up and watched lotr till 6. Took a walk around battalion grounds. With only the dull thud of my boots against the floor and the cool wind in my face.

I felt a sense of calm. The world was at peace. Or at least for those few moments.

Duty will end in 1 hour. Its been gruelling and boring. Cept with the company of friends and the one I truly care for.

I've made a big mistake in my words. You could have walked out forever with those words but you didn't. When I didn't answer you called. Things may not be as smooth as we want it to be now but it sure is nice to know that on the other end of the string there's someone there..

Its been a gruelling one and a half days. The next few weeks could be just as hard. Or harder. I thought life after cadet hood was going to be easier...but it aint. My eyes are growing tired, I really need somewhere to begin now.

Are you ready to walk the longest mile boy?

Fear
So comes the 3rd night sleeping on a safari bed...bored to hell, plagued with guilt and seeking to make redress, its no wonder they say when a person is bound by invisible walls they go slightly off the rocker.

I have company, Nigel and Jeremy. So there's some one physical to talk to. Nigel and I ordered pizza. Sweet.

Spent a good part of the day face down on the bed to kill time and stuck in thought. At least jeremy came to lunch with me in the office.

I'm pretty certain by this point, that I have commitment issues. But that's no excuse, they must go.

I fear the more I say today the more wrong I might make things. I haven't done enough in the past then and even now. Elvin calls me too passive and he's right. I'll do good this time.

Oh I'm the fool on the hill...hope I didn't ruin your entire day...sigh.

Foreboding Chambers
I woke up today to the sound of rain. It was 5.20am. I got up and closed the books for last night and washed up.

I feel my here predicament here is like the man in the asylum. He's not insane but with 4 walls and a door to leave anytime but under pain of death should he leave. The words he hears comes from the walls. The walls are talking.

From behind the clay and plaster or metal rebar there is someone talking. The devil speaking or god's word?

I woke up asking myself "Boy, some people search their entire lives to come back to the same point." Then the walls said "What are you running from?"

Feeling empty I don't know how to respond. Its like the days when you wake up with absolutely no answers. But who am I kidding...I haven't woken up knowing all the answers to life since a long time ago.

In a show I watched not too long ago...the adjustment bureau. The show went on the pretense that some people are destined to stay together in their lives by a master plan. Some were meant to be side by side and move off later as if pulled apart by someone with a jar of hearts.

I'm coming down to point that perhaps there's a problem with me, what am I running from? I stood so far from the black hole only to have the last hand reach from the abyss and pull me in.

Stage 2: Uncertainty

This seems familiar...
So here Í am again...second night sleeping on a safari bed. Tis a sad life I live but some how it feels peaceful with a tinge of ease.

Although I am better prepared here then yesterday, I'm not any more less bored.

I'm thankful for my non existant accompaniment who has kept me company the last few hours and I don't think words can fully describe the notion anyway.

I would regret to have such little time to spare for someone but such is my sad life.

There isn't much more to describe now...cept the room is dark...as I try to lay down to sleep.

Maybe tonight ill dream a good dream perhaps?

Duty
Tonight's duty kinda sucks. Boring ttm and stuff but I MUST admit...it beats being in camp any time. The job scope is small and limited for the time being. Not to mention slack!

The view from up here is amazing, I'd put a photo up but I dont have a camera on me now. Spent the early half of the evening crapping with the guys and leftie sebastian and staff.

Now lying on a safari bed...probably won't be long till I knock out tho...gonna have to wake up later tho...guys doin rounds again later...

What a way to spend the day...
Training ended by 315pm today...what a short one!

Sat around in the bunk with Jon, Jun Kai, Andy and Nick. For some strange reason they all seem to like ' back to december'...must've heard the song like 5 times today.

Spent the early afternoon snoozing in the platoon office...for some strange reason I feel really tired. No idea why. Just feel really drained...

The coy had nights out today but I didn't go cuz I was too lazy and tired to go...so they went to 46 for more dinner...didn't go cuz I can't keep eating...plain bad discipline...sigh...

So I chilled in bunk...great tunes from my pod n speaks (thx to mum for the weekend!) And reading 'Crescent Dawn' by Clive Cussler.

Tomorrow will truly be a short work day muaahaha...

Today I live out of a cupboard, one day out of something bigger than one.

One year later thus far...
So the night of 17th may. This time last year I was all about ready to serve. Fearful of the fate to come. One year later I stand...(rather sit...cuz I'm infact sitting on my bed.) A changed person, a better man.

In the course of a year I have lived and learnt the ways and life of the soldier, true ns wastes the fruit of my youth but it has thus far made me realize things I never did.

I did not come this far alone. Friends and family will not go unthanked. I've made mistakes and paid for them, I've made good choices and shared it in the company of those I love.

Today I learnt a hard fact. You can lie to the world but you can never lie to yourself. Its always easy to advise but never easy to follow.

At the end of it all so far, hard to take fully but in my words "Take the good times, forget the bad times" and in the words of a friend "forgiveness is to forgive the wrongs of a person so you may never use their past sins as instigators for new sin"

- Today, back to september. A place only we know.

This heat is getting unbearable...please god! More rain!

Yesterday was a relatively easy day...so I was wrong thankfully. Spent most of the time in the office to escape the heat...the bunk is like a sauna...

Yesterday I also missed a concert I would have loved....Sara bareilles in singapore...sigh what a waste to miss! Happened to see eliotts video upload and damn I feel crappy cuz I wasn't there...

Mister Mister
Five click run today and an impossible heat wave...even after bathing I'm still dripping perspiration.

Won't be surprised if someone gets a heat injury these days...the weather is impossible and unrelenting...give us more rain! MORE rain!!

Today sounds like an easy day but I think there's more than meets the eye. Hopefully I'm dead wrong. Tomorrow outfield training and friday at last! Friday may prove to be a short day...just the 8 km run and that's the hard part. Otherwise bring on the weekend!

Torque of the world
Today started freakishly warm till it actually rained!

After the rain, noticeably the weather became cooler and more bearable.

Was pretty free before lunch and was talking to him on msn. Seems both of us are thinking of taking the same path but I guess its easier for him to walk this road.

Its quite funny how the past can come back and bite you. Not too long ago I told myself I'd leave this place and start anew..not so easy to do now the anger is gone.

And shame...

I don't want to send wrong impressions to some friends. If you think its you...probably not.

Damned shame that no matter how this goes...it all will end in one way and its nothing good that's for sure...the end is known before any projected beginning. Damned shame...damned shame..

What to do now?
Pretty cool feature! I can now blog by emailing blogger! Bloody brilliant!

Lots of things going on these days...was lucky enough to get a ride home on friday from desmond's dad. Thankfully it was along the way.

Went out on sunday with mum...visited god ma and grandma and then went for dinner with mum after sending lance some songs. Samy's curry mmmz...

Today had breakfast with nick, amanda and maegan at the prata house following that went to the wong's place to help eliott install dragon age 2. Julian didn't tell me he was home zz...at least transport tonight is settled...

That old familiar feeling is back...but I can't follow. Bad enough who the person is...but chance has an odd way of dangling opportunities infront of you when you can't take anymore gambling. It seems perfect but is it? Hmm...noises...voices...and too many damned choices!
